Job Summary

Reporting to and under general supervision of the Director of Student Recruitment and Orientation, the Lead Recruitment Coordinator (LRC) oversees the planning and implementation of recruitment/outreach programs, events, activities, plans, and strategies to advance and achieve the University’s undergraduate and graduate enrollment goals. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing training and work direction to recruitment staff regarding, lead generation, lead management (including vendor management) and applicant conversion strategies to meet enrollment goals. In addition, the LRC is responsible for generating leads, recruitment travel, and managing lead conversion in support of the recruitment team (especially when vacancies occur). The LRC conducts appropriate follow-up with leads; advises prospective students and supports new applicants through the enrollment process. As an expert in admission requirements, transfer credit, and university graduation requirements, the LRC is responsible for training in admissions advising for Recruitment Counselors (Counselors) and for taking on highly complex professional Student Services work and student advising needs. The LRC plays an active role in developing and coordinating effective standard and digital communication and recruitment strategies. This includes, but is not limited to, the development and hosting of webinars and other virtual events; conducting in-person and remote enrollment advising sessions; and tracking and monitoring communication yields that are sent through University standard communication tools. 

Key Qualifications

This position requires the equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related. Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in admissions or advising students individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems. A Master’s degree may be substituted for one year of professional experience. Experience in admission and/or academic advising, counseling prospective students, and exhibiting mastery of admissions requirements is required. Intermediate proficiency with computers, including standard office technology and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, PeopleSoft, CRM tools, student information systems, virtual and mobile devices, and online applications preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $6,320 to $6,574 a month. This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
