Position Summary

Position requires overseeing and covering front desk reception duties, including walk-ins, phone calls, e-mails and other forms of communication for the department. Position also involves training and oversight of student assistants providing relief coverage at the front office, as well as working in coordination with Access Coordinators, the ASL/CART Coordinator, and Director regarding scheduling and communication needs.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: Anticipated hiring range at the minimum of the classification range ($3,680/month)

Work Hours: Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm. This position will be working on-site in the Disability Access Center.

Department Information 

The Disability Access Center (DAC) offers a wide range of accommodation services that ensure students with disabilities have equal access and opportunity to pursue their educational goals. 

Working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators, DAC provides campus-wide consultation and serves as a primary information resource on disability-related issues to the campus community.

Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
 
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Required Qualifications 

  1. Demonstrated good communication and interpersonal skills in interacting and communicating effectively with all levels of staff and external constituencies, both verbally and in writing
  2. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  3. Familiar and proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Oracle (in Client Server –Windows), CMS, and other database software systems
  4. Ability to use and operate a personal computer, printer, photocopy machine, multi-line telephone, and other technology
  5. Thorough knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices
  6. Demonstrated competence in understanding, interpreting, and communicating procedures, policies, information, ideas, and instructions
  7. Ability to work independently and prioritize and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail
  8. Ability to apply sound judgment, discretion, and initiative in addressing problems and developing practical and thorough solutions
  9. Ability to maintain confidentiality related to department and student records according to applicable laws and regulations
  10. Ability to perform standard arithmetic functions of a transactional nature, including tracking and comparing data
  11. Demonstrated competence in effectively presenting standard information in writing
  12. Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when needed
  13. Ability and/or interest in working with individuals with disabilities
  14. Ability to train, provide lead work direction and monitor student assistant receptionist
  15. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse
