Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Dean of College of Education, the Executive Assistant will perform administrative, analytical and technical duties in support of the Dean’s office operations. The incumbent will monitor and analyze metrics, data, and progress on the College’s strategic priorities and initiatives. This position acts as the main point of contact for the college of education office and oversees office management functions including budget/fiscal processes, personnel administration, facilities, equipment and supplies while ensuring effective and compliant operations. The incumbent will serve as the liaison between the Dean's Office and faculty, staff, students, campus community members, and external partners. Respond to inquiries, resolve issues, and represent the College

The incumbent will implement special projects and college-wide initiatives as assigned by the Dean and coordinate related communications. The Executive Assistant will provide advice and counsel to the Dean on administrative matters including policies, procedures, programs, and operations. This will require researching issues, compiling data, and preparing reports to inform the Dean’s decision making.

This position will provide lead work direction to administrative staff, including assign and review work, provide training and guidance, and ensure completion of duties.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,518 per month - $5,500 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,518 per month - $6,791 per month

Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

  2. Ability to understand problems from a broad perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.
  3. Ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.
  4. Ability to understand and apply University and College policies, practices, programs, and operations.
  5. Knowledge of administrative principles, methods, and practices.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and enterprise software/databases.
  7. Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and propose solutions.
  8. Ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in a written or presentation format.
  9. Ability to implement projects, take initiative, and work independently.
  10. Ability to communicate effectively and use tact and diplomacy.
  11. Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize duties.
  12. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.

Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
  2. Two or more years of administrative work experience, professional training.
  3. Experience with metrics analysis and performance improvement.
  4. Knowledge of higher education administration.
