Position Summary

The Administrative Analyst/Specialist NE (AA/S NE) functions under the general direction of the School of Music
Director in managing all aspects of the department’s budget. Primary duties include: Management, administration, and
oversight of the School of Music budget which includes multiple stateside, ASI/IRA and auxiliary funds and accounts
Management, administration and oversight of all personnel contracts for guest artists, performers and accompanists
for School of Music events. Supervises and coordinates School of Music’s administrative staff, and collaborates with
other university offices to effect fiscal and contractual accountability. The incumbent is the primary fiscal resource for
the School of Music and is expected to work under pressure with frequent interruptions while prioritizing assignments
to meet deadlines. Maintains confidentiality of materials and sensitive information at all times.

FLSANon-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4000 per month - $4600 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,518 per month - $6,791 per month

Department Information 

The School of Music is part of the visual and performing arts at California State University, Sacramento. Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative or program field with
a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would
normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience
involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement administrative policies,
procedures, practices, or programs

Required Qualifications 

1. Demonstrated ability to maintain a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and

constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.

2. Demonstrated history of and commitment to building and maintaining a respectful and professional work


3. Experience providing day-to-day administration of programs and/or performing a variety of administrative and technical analytical work related to operations and procedures.

4. Experience developing, administering, and/or monitoring a complex budget consisting of multiple sources of revenue and expenses.

5. Experience performing research, collecting data, analyzing and applying the data.

6. Experience which demonstrates a high level of knowledge in reconciling and auditing various types of

financial transactions.

7. Experience using standard software tools in a networked environment to create detailed tracking and

reporting documents.

8. Experience with personnel-related functions and practices (i.e. special consultants, honoraria, contracts)

9. Demonstrated ability with applying sound accounting, budgeting, and planning practices.

10. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, present ideas and concepts in a written, oral, or

presentation format including preparing executive reports, budget summaries and operational reports.

11. Demonstrated ability to research, develop and evaluate policies and processes, including the collection,

evaluation, and interpretation of data to make appropriate recommendations.

12. Demonstrated ability to use discretion and judgement on confidential matters.

13. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

14. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate and perform in a variety of situations with diverse priorities

15. Experience training and lead work direction to staff colleagues

Preferred Qualifications 

16. Experience using CMS, CFS, FDW and Cognos

17. Extensive knowledge of University and Department infrastructures, policies and procedures and

administering budgets in a university setting
