Position Summary 

Incumbents at this level work under general supervision of the Production Analyst and the Director of University Print & Mail and perform the most complex, technical and/or specialized work requiring extensive reprographics experience and advance knowledge and expertise. Work requires a broad and specialized knowledge base within reprographics, printing and copying.  thorough knowledge of computer and digital systems and equipment used in printing and copying is required. Incumbents will work independently to multitask and organize workflow in accordance to schedule demands and will work under the pressure of deadlines. Incumbent may provide lead work direction to other print shop staff and student assistants.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $3505-$4033 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

Department Information 

University Print and Mail is your one-stop shop for your printing and mailing needs. We proactively anticipate campus needs; develop and implement solutions, and provide essential support services to our students and the University community. Our professional staff provides outstanding customer service through strategic and innovative use of technology and resources.

Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to the first level within this classification requires basic computer skills and working knowledge of reprographics operations and functions; ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the position, ability to follow oral and written instructions; and the ability to perform mathematical calculations. These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school education or equivalent certification plus one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Required Qualifications 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  1. Proficiency in applicable PC and Macintosh platforms, their operating systems and applicable software programs.
  2. Possess specialized ability to operate and maintain a wide range of reprographics equipment and systems (e.g. pre-press equipment/software, high speed copiers, digital presses, etc.), as well as standard bindery equipment (e.g. cutter, folder, collator, etc.).
  3. Ability to quickly learn new equipment, computerized systems, and processes.
  4. Thorough knowledge of the operation, adjustment and routine maintenance of mechanical, digital and computerized equipment and systems.
  5. Thorough knowledge of manipulating color values and ensuring even density on the sheet and consistent color throughout the job using applicable equipment and software.
  6. Ability to manipulate and set up files and equipment in the production of a wide range of specialized material and media such as, posters, banners, magnets, signs, fabric printing, etc.
  7. Familiarity with paper stock and other materials used in printing.
  8. Ability to follow and comply with all safety and work rule regulations.
  9. Good interpersonal skills to work effectively and provide excellent customer service in a diverse environment.
  10. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills to handle changing/multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  11. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  12. Ability to provide lead work direction to student assistants as needed.
  1. Working knowledge of desktop publishing and graphic design software and the ability to manipulate and translate media, as well as process and enhance electronic files through pre-press software.
  2. Working knowledge of campus graphics standards and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  2. Ability to work in noisy surroundings.
  3. Ability to frequently lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds of paper and supplies.

Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Ability to produce basic variable data on high-speed copiers.
  2. Working knowledge of wide format printers, their prepress software and substrates
  3. Familiarity with banner finishing including hems, grommets & pole pockets
  4. Working knowledge of UV Printed specialty products and signage including ADA compliant braille signage
  5. Thorough knowledge of applicable U.S. Postal Service requirements and processes related to standard and automated mailing processes and other shipping and receiving methods
  6. Working knowledge of apparel production including operation of heat presses and transfer printers.

  1. Valid Class C Driver’s license and maintenance of a good driving record
