Position Summary
The Administrative Support Coordinator II (ASC II) provides administrative and clerical support through successful coordination of projects/events/activities while being cognizant of deadlines. Under general supervision of the Department Chair, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day office management.
The position is responsible for the Department’s records (including the retention and/or shredding of those records). The ASC II maintains the Department’s financial records, reviews the University financial reports, and reconciles all the Department accounts. The incumbent is the Department scheduler and works with the Department Chair to create the Department’s schedule of classes in CMS for each academic year.
This position requires an individual who is self-motivated, well organized, displays good judgment, interacts well with others, and has knowledge of the University infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
FLSA: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime compensation)
Anticipated Hiring Range: $3700.00 - $3900.00 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training

The Geography Department (https://www.csus.edu/geog/) offers a B.A. in Geography that features balanced preparation in physical and human geography, geographic skills and techniques, and regional study. Four concentrations within the major allow for specializations in human geography, physical geography, GIS, and planning (http://catalog.csus.edu/colleges/natural-sciences-mathematics/geography/). Department faculty and geography majors collaborate with programs across the university, notably Environmental Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Ethnic Studies. Two department computer labs support training in GIS, GPS, cartography, and remote sensing, and allow students to pursue independent research projects. The department also houses the campus Paleoecology Lab.
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also, a prerequisite.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

4. Ability to perform business math and track and analyze financial and/or budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference.
5. Ability to manage complex scheduling and records.

7. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to address problems and develop solutions.
8. Ability to manage diverse interpersonal situations at all levels, often requiring tact and discretion and the resolution of a problem.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
10. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
11. Proficiency in standard office equipment and programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Internet Explorer)
Conditions of Employment:
- Ability to pass a background check.

13. Knowledge of classroom scheduling process.
14. General knowledge of Geography’s major, concentration, and minors.
15. Familiarity with University software (CMS, OnBase, Cognos)
