Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer, the Senior Director for Infrastructure & Operations provides direction and oversees the operations of IRT on-premises and cloud-based technology infrastructure, including networks, telephony, servers, storage, virtualization, and network infrastructure and architecture. The Sr. Director I&O brings experience, knowledge, and future vision for transforming the I&O function including its strategy, operating model, product and service offerings and workforce. As a key member of the IRT executive leadership team, this role contributes to the development and execution of the enterprise-wide IT strategy and is responsible for ensuring I&O strategy is fully aligned with IRT and campus goals and priorities.

The Senior Director is responsible for the implementation and operation of security controls, in collaboration with the IRT Information Security Office, to ensure compliance with information security policies.

FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,250.00 - $20,063.00 per month  

Hiring Range: $10,000 - $14,000 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training

Salary Grade/Range: 3

Recruitment Type: Regular (At-Will)

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 months 

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Other hours as required.

Hybrid work flexibility is available at up to 1-2 days a week remote, on an opt-in basis.

Information Resources & Technology (IRT) partners with faculty, staff, and students to provide essential information technology services that support mission critical activities and innovative technology solutions that facilitate the accomplishment of strategic campus goals at Sacramento State.

Required Qualifications 

Education/Experience

  1. A Bachelors degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  2. Three or more years of leadership responsibilities, including strategy, budgeting, and staffing
  3. At least five years experience managing  data center, server management, virtualization, storage, telephony, and operations

Knowledge/Skills

  1. Budgeting, estimating, planning for network & telecom infrastructure.
  2. Demonstrated evidence of transformational leadership experience
  3. Experience and knowledge overseeing the development of data center/cable plant infrastructure and related standards
  4. Demonstrated evidence  of excellent project management skills.
  5. Demonstrated evidence of IT configuration management experience.
  6. Demonstrated evidence of IT disaster recovery planning experience.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of cloud infrastructure and services.
  8. Excellent communication skills.
  9. Demonstrated evidence of a proactive customer service ethic, including proven ability to instill a service ethic throughout a unit.
  10. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead highly technical personnel in pursuit of enterprise goals

Preferred Qualifications
 

  1. Master’s degree in a related field
  2. Experience developing & implementing cloud strategies.
  3. Evidence of ability to work effectively as a team with division colleagues and decentralized technical support groups, while at the same time fostering enterprise level efficiencies
  4. Experience applying and supporting technology services to faculty, students and staff in a higher education setting
  5. Knowledge of telecom systems & support for police dispatch 911
  6. Demonstrated ability to improve core information technology services and staff through proactive, team-oriented management
  7. A well-defined vision for the use of server, storage, application and network monitoring and optimization tools to enhance the reliability and service effectiveness of core IT services (e.g. complex systems comprised of servers, storage, directory services, authentication systems, database systems, etc)
  8. Experience developing Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU)
