Position Summary

The Maryjane Rees Center Administrative Support Coordinator II (ASC II) provides primary administrative staff
support in the Maryjane Rees Language, Speech and Hearing Center (the Center) which is housed in the Department
of Communication Sciences and Disorders. The ASC II is responsible for the full scope of project activities in the
Center, including initiation, execution, coordination, implementation, and evaluation. Serves as an assistant to the
Department Chair, relieving the Chair of assigned administrative tasks that apply to the Center. This position also
receives work direction from the Maryjane Rees Center-Speech Clinic Coordinator and the Maryjane Rees Center-
Audiology Clinical Education Coordinator. The Maryjane Rees Center-Speech and Language Center Clinic
Coordinator, as delegated by the Program Director, manages day-to-day workload. Working with minimal supervision,
the incumbent investigates and analyzes problem areas and incorporates principles and methods of business
administration including fiscal management.

FLSA: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime compensation under FLSA). This position is benefits-eligible.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3681 - $6034 per month 

Hiring Range: $3681 - $4268 per month

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan:  12 month

Work Hours: M-F 8-5  Partial telework schedule may be available, upon management approval, after a training period to be determined.

Department Information 

Since 1952, Sac State has remained committed to training highly competent professionals in the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology and to providing the community with exceptional speech, language, swallowing and hearing services.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders continues this commitment by providing speech-language pathology and audiology services to our community through our on-campus clinic, the Maryjane Rees Language, Speech, and Hearing Center.

Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communication orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Required Qualifications:


  1. Experience providing reception and/or clerical support in an office environment.

  2. Experience providing customer service.


  1. Demonstrated ability to quickly obtain thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.

  2. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

  3. Experience with or knowledge of office systems, technology, and/or software packages

  4. Ability to independently handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

  5. Ability to apply independently interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures where precedents may not exist.

  6. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.

  7. Ability to perform business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.

  8. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.

  9. Ability to effectively handle a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.

  10. Knowledge, skill, or potential in scheduling clinics, research, or related activities.

  11. Knowledge, skill, or potential in maintaining FERPA compliant and/or HIPPA aligned confidential information.

  12. Experience or potential to work with diverse student, colleague, community, and/or client groups.

Preferred Qualifications 

15. Experience with or knowledge of clinical services related to speech-language pathology, audiology,
communication disorders, or a related field.
16. Experience with student assistant employment including posting positions, interviewing, selecting candidates,
processing new hire paperwork, managing timesheets, training, and providing work lead direction.
17. Experience with or knowledge of purchasing equipment and supplies in a university, clinical, and/or research
18. Experience with planning, coordinating, and implementing events.
