Position Summary

The Associate Dean for Research and Engagement is a key member of the College of Education leadership team and is primarily responsible for the following areas: research, engagement, faculty development, College of Education Anchor Institution Initiatives, programmatic support for anti-racist, social justice programming and activities, and College/University/Community Liaison. 
 

FSLA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $ 6,250.00 - $ 20,063.00 monthly

Hiring Range: Anticipated hiring range within the classification range is $8,333 - $11,875 per month, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training

Salary Grade/Range: 1

Recruitment Type: Regular

Time Base: Full-Time 

Pay Plan:  12 months 

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Work hours may vary based on operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications 

Ph.D. or Ed.D in a field or discipline relevant to the College of Education

Required Qualifications 

  1. Candidate must have held or currently hold a tenured position at an accredited higher educational institution in an Education discipline (or equivalent).
  2. They must possess an earned Ph.D. or Ed.D in a field or discipline relevant to the College of Education from an accredited institution and a record of teaching, research, scholarship, and service to be eligible for a senior faculty appointment at the rank of a tenured full Professor in a department within the College.

In addition, candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  1. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  2. A record of excellence in teaching, research and service at the level of Associate or Full Professor
  3. Evidence of a well-articulated research agenda
  4. Evidence of successful external and internal partnerships
  5. A record of successful external funding applications; working knowledge of state and federal grant compliance procedures
  6. Successful leadership and supervisory experience in higher education
  7. Commitment to and experience with faculty governance
  8. Commitment to diversity and issues of justice, equitable and inclusive education

Preferred Qualifications 

  1. Demonstrated academic administrative experience in a university setting, preferably including experience at the department level.
  2. Collaborative leadership, development, and management skills.
  3. Leadership experience in the area of partnership development, especially related to advancing anti-bias programs.
  4. Demonstrated mentoring skills especially for faculty-related research and external funding proposals.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at https://www.csus.edu/clery . 
The ASR contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for Sacramento State for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the Police Service Center located in the University Union.
