Position Summary

The CSMS Programs Analyst provides administrative, analytical, development, accounting and fiscal management support to the Center for Science and Math Success (CSMS), which serves students taking science and math courses, as well as faculty, staff and administrators from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. This position supports the Center Director in identifying and implementing new initiatives and generating proposals for internal and external funding. The Programs Analyst also plans, coordinates, advertises and executes lectures and other events focused on promoting STEM research, and student recruitment and retention in STEM disciplines at Sacramento State for the campus community and the public at large.

FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,107 - $7,545  per month 

Hiring Range: $4,200 - $4,500 per month, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Occasional evenings may be required.

Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Required Qualifications 

1. Ability to provide lead work direction to other professional or administrative staff, with accountability for results.
2. Skill in the research, development and evaluation of policies and programs, including skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
3. Ability to independently determine approaches to projects and priorities in consideration of overall goals and objectives, with full accountability.
4. Ability to work with representatives from public and private entities and handle potentially sensitive situations.
5. Demonstrated consultative skills in working with internal and external constituent groups.
6. Working knowledge of and ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations.
7. Demonstrated working knowledge of the principles, problems, and methods of public and business administration and operational and fiscal management.
8. Ability to interpret complex campus and auxiliary organizations’ regulations and policies and guide, train and be a resource to staff and others on their interpretations.
9. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to adapt communications style to varying audiences; compose clear and detailed correspondence, reports, and outreach/promotional materials.
 
Condition of Employment:

Preferred Qualifications 

10. 3-5 years’ experience working in an administration environment, preferably at a university, performing administrative and technical duties of varying complexity requiring the exercise of initiative and expert judgment
11. Bachelor’s degree
12. Experience working with CMS, Financial Data Warehouse, and Labor Cost Distribution programs
