Working Title: Healthy Living Survey Community Outreach Representative (Asian American Community) (Bilingual ability required)

Eligible on-campus applicants in California State University Employees Union (CSUEU) Bargaining Units 2,5,7, and 9 will be given first consideration in the recruitment.
Under the supervision of the PRC Director and the lead work direction of the Healthy Living Survey Project Coordinator, the Community Outreach Representative is responsible for providing dedicated day-to-day outreach throughout California to community-based organizations (CBOs), religious organizations, community health centers, and local businesses (External Entities) for the purpose of recruiting Asian American participants in the Healthy Living Survey. This will include statewide travel to External Entities throughout California. Community Outreach Representative will be responsible for coordination of the recruitment process with personnel of External Entities, potential participants and PRC staff. They will be responsible for researching and garnering support of External Entities for the project, recruitment of qualified respondents, assisting qualified participants complete the survey as needed, providing daily reports to the Healthy Living Survey Project Coordinator, data entry, quality assurance, and following all study protocols for data collection.
FLSA: Hourly/Int – This position may be eligible for health benefits and is non-exempt, (eligible for overtime compensation) according to FLSA. Employees who are determined to be eligible for health benefits will be notified by the benefits office.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $18.00 - $26.49 per hour
Hiring Range: $21.00 per hour. (Includes bilingual pay.) Initial appointment will not exceed $21.00 per hour unless required by MOU (collective bargaining agreement) or policy.
Recruitment Type: Temporary, short-term.
Time Base: Hourly-Intermittent
Work Hours: Variable depending on project needs. 0-40 hours per week. Weekends. Travel for up to a week at a time. Hourly-intermittent employees in CSUEU-represented classifications are limited to 1000 hours per fiscal year.
Valid driver's license and maintenance of safe driving record required.
Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.

5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
6. Ability to address a variety of problems and recommend solutions within guidelines/procedures. Ability to learn, interpret independently, and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures.
7. Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough and, at times, creative solutions.
8. Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle sensitive interpersonal situations.
9. Must be able to speak, read and write in one of the following languages: Tagalog, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese
Conditions of Employment:
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to travel throughout the state of California for up to a week at a time.
10. Experience working with community-based organizations, religious organizations, local health departments, community health centers, and in the California Asian American community.
11. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the social sciences or a related field is preferred. Social science research experience or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
12. One or more years of research experience, including: experience in telephone, online or in-person data collection, experience with maintaining data security according to protocols; experience in recruiting and tracking participants for research projects; experience with data entry and/or data quality assurance.
