Position Summary

The Administrative Support Coordinator I (ASC I) provides primary administrative staff support to the Office of the Dean of CHHS.  The incumbent works directly with the ASC IIs and Administrative Analyst/Specialist of the CHHS Dean's office. The incumbent is expected to work under pressure with frequent interruptions while prioritizing assignments in order to meet deadlines.  They are expected to cordially and professionally interact with visitors of the Dean's Office from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Provides support for the new centers in the college. These centers include: Student Success Center (SSC), Center for Health, Practice, Policy and Research (CHPPR), and the Inter Professional Education Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (IPE). Support includes marketing, communications, and clerical support.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Students and Personnel, provides administrative support for the new Health Science Meta Degree program housed in the dean’s office.

The incumbent must maintain confidentiality of materials and information received within the office. The incumbent acts as the College's back-up payroll warrant officer.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime compensation under the Fair Labor Standards Act) This position is benefits-eligible.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3276-5148 per month 

Hiring Range: $3276-3743 per month

Minimum Qualifications 

This position requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. This position also requires a knowledge of business mathematics, including calculations using decimals, working with measures of central tendencies, and ability to read charts and graphs. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

  4. Ability to handle a variety of multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  5. Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop solutions.
  6. Ability to coordinate front line contacts with a variety of campus and community individuals requiring problem solving, organizational skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to learn new skills with a high degree of motivation.
  8. Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.
  9. Ability to set priorities among numerous ongoing activities and meet internal and external deadlines.
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and identify sensitive information.
