Position Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Dean or Dean, the Director of Operational Effectiveness & Efficiency serves as the strategic financial partner and chief resource steward of the College of Continuing Education. Identifies, mobilizes, and optimizes all resources to help advance the mission of the college, and ensure that staff receive high-quality administrative support in a manner compliant with university policies and procedures. The Director leads the day-to-day operating activities for the college and provides strategic direction and planning in financial services, facilities and resource planning. Partnering closely with leaders in functional areas across the college, the Director plays an integral role in developing, implementing, and managing plans to streamline the efficiency and effectiveness of the college. The Director provides direct oversight to functional areas including budgeting, financial analysis, contracting, procurement, travel, business continuity, risk management, facilities, and transportation.

FLSA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,583 - $13,750 per month 

Hiring Range

Anticipated hiring range, within the classification range - $8,333 - $11,458 per month, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

Salary Grade/Range:  3312-RANGE A-Grade-1

The College of Continuing Education (CCE) extends the mission of Sacramento State by providing access to educational and professional programming that meets student and industry demands. CCE cultivates and maintains strong relationships with local and state government leaders and policy makers by offering innovative education, training, and workforce solutions. Additionally, CCE provides service and expertise to Californians through conferences, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building to address complex issues that inform public policy and constituent groups.

Required Qualifications 


  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a discipline relevant to finance, business, auditing, contract management, public administration, organizational development, quality assurance, or related field.


  1. At least five (5) years of experience in financial management including planning, forecasting, budgeting and recovery.
  2. Experience in facilities management, lease management, and fleet acquisition and management.
  3. Experience with strategic planning, change management, policy analysis, and risk management.
  4. Experience evaluating and implementing financial management processes and systems.
  5. Experience developing and implementing business continuity processes and systems.
  6. Experience with health and safety measures necessary for the ongoing support and operational needs of the organization.
  7. Experience in process improvement, quality assurance, and implementing standard operating procedures.
  8. Experience in leading, managing, and motivating a team of diverse individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Advanced degree from an accredited university in a discipline relevant to finance, business, auditing, contract management, public administration, organizational development, quality assurance or related field.
  2. Experience with grants, contracts, inter-agency agreements, fee-recovery models, and/or self-support higher education finance.
  3. Experience working with multiple sources of funding.
  4. 5+ years of experience in higher education, non-profits, or government.
  5. Experience working in a collective bargaining environment.
