Position Summary

Information Resources & Technology (IRT) provides essential information technology services for campus operations and innovative technology solutions to facilitate the accomplishment of strategic campus goals.

The position reports to the Director of the Campus Applications Team to perform business process analysis and support workflow development, maintenance and troubleshooting. The incumbent administers and supports enterprise applications as assigned. This position is responsible for developing and delivering training and support materials relating to new or updated applications and services.
IRT actively engages our campus community to deliver high-quality services and innovative solutions that meet current and future technology needs. The IRT team is committed to communicating clearly, operating transparently, and taking a data-driven approach to continuous improvement.

This position will work Monday through Friday, 8 – 5 or an equivalent schedule based on business needs. This position will work some evenings and weekends to meet deadlines, address business needs, or meet service levels.
This position may require some travel for training, conferences or other work-related assignments.

Note: All IRT employees should be familiar with the mission of the University, the University Strategic Plan, and the campus information technology strategic plan.

FLSA: Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,372.00 - $10,792 per month 

Hiring Range: $5,500 - $6,750 per month

Salary Grade/Range:  2

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan:  12 months 

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm; other hours as required. 

Department Information 

Who is IRT? 
Information Resources & Technology (IRT) partners with faculty, staff, and students to provide essential information technology services that support mission critical activities and innovative technology solutions that facilitate the accomplishment of strategic campus goals at Sacramento State. 

Minimum Qualifications 

To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant, depending on the nature of the position assignment, may include working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems.

Required Qualifications 

Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience using and supporting industry standard computers, operating systems, software, and peripherals.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  1. Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service while balancing and integrating diverse needs of many stakeholders.
  2. Demonstrated ability to communicate, effectively and appropriately, at all levels including written and verbal communications.
  3. Demonstrated experience developing documentation or jobs aids.
  4. Demonstrated ability to address requests based on timelines and goals, be adaptable when priorities change, and ask for guidance when needed.
  5. Demonstrated experience in leading and working with cross-functional teams for example:  business subject matter experts, application architects, developers, testers and/or project managers.
  6. Demonstrated ability to apply analytical thinking to resolve business and IT application problems.
  7. Demonstrated ability to conduct business process analysis to document and improve workflows.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Ability to develop understanding of goals and business needs of units, academic and non-academic, outside the technology organization.
  2. Ability to collect and use data for planning and decision making, conduct needs analysis, and benchmark based on standards and best practices.
  3. Ability to create process maps, use cases, and training documentation.
  4. Desire to learn new applications and technologies that may be unfamiliar.
  5. Experience teaching others to use applications and technology – individuals and groups.
  6. Two years’ experience providing and/or coordinating technology support services for a diverse group of end users.
  7. Experience managing or participating in IT projects and planning.
