The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders continues this commitment by providing speech-language pathology and audiology services to our community through our on-campus clinic, the Maryjane Rees Language, Speech, and Hearing Center. Through the campus-based clinic, graduate students evaluate and treat communication disorders under close supervision by faculty who are nationally certified and state licensed speech-language pathologists and audiologists. The Department offers the Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, the Second Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSAD2B-CCE), the Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degrees. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is seeking a Full-time Lecturer, Audiology Clinical Education Coordinator. This appointment will involve clinic coordination, supervision of students enrolled in the doctorate of audiology program, marketing and public relations work, and teaching at the University level.

This full-time, temporary, non-tenure-track appointment, which is not a probationary position, will be for a three (3) year term and will terminate at the end of the 2024/25 academic year, and does not establish consideration for subsequent appointments or any further appointment rights. However, this lectureship may be renewed annually dependent upon satisfactory performance, curricular needs, student enrollment and budget consideration.


  1. Coordination of HIPAA-compliant Audiology clinic operations, including but not limited to:
    1. Oversight of clinical education and coordination of clinical instructors/supervisors and student clinical progress for the Doctor of Audiology program.
    2. Coordinate program accreditation and HIPAA compliance for the Maryjane Rees Language, Speech and Hearing Center.
    3. Coordinate the on-campus Maryjane Rees Language, Speech and Hearing Center’s audiology clinic, including setup (EHR system, scheduling, purchasing, technology, equipment, materials and supplies), consultation (purchasing, construction, marketing of services), and clinic operations (client/patient recruitment/enrollment and scheduling, establishment of policies, procedures, and activities related to clinic operations and student clinical education and supervision and scheduling), and clinical education in conjunction with the Maryjane Language, Speech and Hearing Center.
  2. Establish and coordinate scheduling and billing while adhering to federal and state regulations.
  3. Initiate and maintain student placement agreements and act as a liaison to local professional networks in audiology and clinical placement development.
  4. Didactic and clinical instruction and internship/externship liaison work, as needed.
  5. Coordinate scheduling of clinical instruction and on and off-campus clinics. Coordinate scheduling of all clinical instructors, clinics, and student clinicians in the Maryjane Rees Language, Speech, and Hearing Audiology Clinic.
  6. Participate in hiring and support of clinical instructors (this includes verification of updated ASHA certification and CA licenses annually), including training and support of student clinical hours data tracking.
  7. Oversight of student clinical hours data tracking including verification of ASHA and licensure.
  8. Provide support to students enrolled in clinical practica including tracking documentation related to AuD and undergraduate observation hours and background check documentation. AuD and undergraduate clinical assistantship hours, clinical clock hours and competencies, surveys and site demographics data, in order to ensure learning outcome assessment data for annual department reporting is available.
  9. Community relations including marketing and public relations to support clinic census.
  10. Support the development of sustainable funding sources, in collaboration with the Department Chair and University Advancement for the donations-only clinic.
  11. Establish, monitor and track the Maryjane Rees Center Audiology Clinic budget in consultation with the Department Chair.
  12. Provide supplementary clinical instruction to students enrolled in clinical practicum, including assessing and remediating disorders in audiology.
  13. Clinical Education Coordinator participates in instructing students and guiding clinical instructors in the following areas:
    1. Diagnostic assessment and screening of peripheral and central auditory function, vestibular function tests, hearing aid dispensing and follow-up services, assistive technology and aural (re)habilitation, assessment and management of tinnitus, immittance/impedance tests, real ear measurements, electrophysiological measures, rotary chair testing, etc.
    2. Therapeutic intervention which involves the planning, implementation, and interprofessional evaluation and management of auditory, vestibular and other related disorders.
    3. Professional reports and records of evaluations and procedures, and results.
    4. Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) development, implementation, and tracking.
    5. Evidence based practice and department-specific professional development.
    6. Providing services to and working with diverse students and patients
  14. Coordinate reception at audiology clinic desk and clinical supply room, including materials, and personnel.
  15. Maintain and review the inventory of materials.
  16. Interact with clients and caregivers regarding services and concerns as needed.
  17. Conduct annual clinical orientations, continuing education events, and workshops.
  18. Maintain and update Clinical Handbooks for students and clinical instructors.



  • Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) or the equivalent from an institution approved by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispenser’s Board.
  • Three years of clinical audiology work experience post-graduation.
  • Nine months of work experience after obtaining ASHA CCC-A (ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology must be current).
  • Possession of or immediately eligible for California state licensure in audiology and hearing aid dispenser license.
  • Potential for teaching in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work with students, staff, and colleagues in a diverse academic community.
  • Ability to provide supervision and/or lead work direction to others.
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate scheduling.
  • Experience in coordinating operational activities, such as development of sustainable funding sources, establishing, monitoring, and tracking budgets, and developing clinic handbooks.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.


  • Two hours of professional development in supervision after receiving the CCC-A.
  • Experience in supervision/clinical instruction of audiology students.
  • Experience with scheduling clients and clinicians.

We have a state-of-the-art audiology clinic with an additional 6,000 square feet of clinical space built in the summer of 2021 that includes 5 booths and 5 consultation rooms, a vestibular lab with rotary chair, a variety of equipment (electrophysiology, hearing aids, diagnostics, etc.) as well as a student computer room. All full-time Au.D. program faculty in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders receive 3 units of release time for research and scholarly activity to chair and support doctoral research projects.

We have a rich interprofessional department within Folsom Hall on the south end of campus with opportunities to collaborate across campus. Located in Sacramento, our department offers the opportunity for collaborative working relationships with faculty and clinicians at local clinics, schools, and university medical centers. The candidate would enter into a fully established department with three cohorts of AuD students. This position would offer campus resources to support the candidate’s teaching, research, and service activities.
